Roster Announcement - March 1st, 2012
GREENWOOD, S.C. -- The Palmetto Bantams will announce the roster on March 1st. for the 2012 season, which will be their first year in the USL’s Premier Development League. Tryouts were held at four different locations in South Carolina.
The club’s first tryout was held December 10th at Lander University’s Jeff May Complex. The new team, which is expected to compete in the Southeast Division of the PDL, also held tryouts at other locations around the state. Coached by Lander University’s head coach Van Taylor, the Bantams also have an affiliation with English League Two side Bradford City.
TRYOUT DATES:
All players interested in trying out should preregister at www.palmettofc.com. The USL PDL is the top developmental men’s league in North America, and last season featured 64 teams within four conferences across the United States and Canada. The PDL season consists of 16 regular season matches for each team, eight home and eight away, and provides elite collegiate players the opportunity to taste a higher level of competition while maintaining their eligibility.
In addition to league play, PDL teams compete in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as various exhibitions. The PDL has proven to be an important stepping-stone for top professionals now playing throughout the world.
PFC Teams with BSN Sports and Nike for the Inaugural Season
GREENWOOD, S.C. -- Palmetto FC is pleased to announce their partnership with BSN Sports and Nike for the 2012 season. The Bantams will exclusively wear Nike gear during their inaugural season.
“We are very excited about our new partnership with both BSN and Nike. They have been great to work with, and are going to provide us with great looking team apparel,” said team President Mark Riddle. “It just made a lot of sense to go with Nike since our sister club Bradford City A.F.C. is also sponsored by them.”
